John O’Meara

Deputy Chief of Police

Deputy Chief O’Meara began his career in 1998. His previous assignments within the department included patrolman, Corporal, and Sergeant on Patrol Division. Additionally, Deputy Chief O’Meara previously served as the Commander of the Special Operation Division, which included the Traffic Services Unit and the Special Enforcement Team.

Deputy Chief O’Meara is a Field Training Manager and Instructor. He is a trained Instructor on Incident Response to Terrorist Bombings, certified by the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology (EMRTC). Deputy Chief O’Meara is a graduate of the FBINA Carolina Command College, certified as a Basic Detective, Specific Skills Instructor, Spillman CADRMS Application Administrator, SFST practitioner, and SMD. Further training or certifications received by Deputy Chief O’Meara include ICS, Technical Collision Investigation Phase I, Modern Criminal Investigations, Investigator’s Drug School, Street Drug Enforcement, Crime Scene Investigation, Crime Sight, Principles of Supervision, Mid Level Management for Law Enforcement, Patrol Rifle, CAR Pistol, Field Training Officer, Clan Lab, DMT, and Fairfax County Virginia Police Honor Guard School. Additionally, Deputy Chief O’Meara served as President of the South Carolina Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #48.
